Extrapriosteal Paraffin Plombage Thoracoplasty



Abstract
Extraperiosteal paraffin plombage for pulmonary tuberculosis has been done in the 36th Army Hospital since 1963.
Number of cases plombaged are 78, whom we could follow up the 61 patients from one to four years.
All of the patients were bilateral far advanced cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis with history of longstand irregular antiberculous drug therapy during the preoperative perid.
Of 61 preoperatively patients, unilateral plombaged were 55 cases and bilateral 6 cases.
Antituberculous agent were taken more than one year including INAH postoperatively.
The result of 67 cases were as followings;
Inactive 45(67%)
Lump 4(6%)
Wound infection 1(1.5%)
Paraffinptysis 1(1.5%)
Reactivation 0
Death 0.
